Senator Bernie Sanders (C-Vermont) filed Articles of Impeachment against himself yesterday after learning that “autocratic thug” Vladimir Putin has been interfering to help him win the Democratic nomination for president.
“The intelligence community says the Russians are interfering in this campaign right now in 2020,” Sanders said at a rally in Bakersfield, Calif. “Let me be clear. Russian interference caused a Constitutional Crisis in 2016, and fairness demands that we have another Constitutional Crisis in 2020.”
When reporters asked Sanders if he knew the Constitution says impeachment begins in the House of Representatives, Sanders said the Constitution doesn’t matter when our democracy is under attack.
“Unlike the current president, I stand firmly against the Russians,” Sanders said. “When our democracy is under attack, it shouldn’t matter who files for impeachment. The Russians want to undermine American democracy by helping me get elected, and that will not stand.”
Sanders also issued a stern warning to Moscow to stay out of the election.
“And what I say to Mr. Putin: ‘Stay out of it, Mr Putin. If elected president, trust me, I will end your interference in American elections even if it means voting to impeach myself.’”
