Des Moines, Iowa (Bloomberg) — The morning after the Iowa caucuses failed to announce a Democratic candidate winner, Sen. Bernie Sanders denied that Communist organizers paid by his campaign had anything to do with the sabotage of the Democratic Party vote-counting process.
“Our Revolution was sabotaged in 2016, but we don’t believe we have to kill the Democratic Party after we abolish it,” Sanders said from his campaign office in New Hampshire. “Besides that, I won Iowa, so why would my Communist staffers want to make it look like the Party is sabotaging us again?”
Communist staffers for the Sanders campaign said they’re still in favor of American gulags, re-education camps, burning cities, and murdering people who resist Democratic Socialism, but would never advocate election sabotage to achieve their goals.
Spokespersons for Our Revolution, Democratic Socialists of America, Justice Democrats, Socialist Alternative, International Socialists Online, and the Socialist Party USA, also confirmed that they had nothing to do with sabotage in Iowa.
The Communist Party USA declined to comment.
“It’s true we need to abolish the Democratic Party because it’s a center or center-conservative party, but we don’t want to kill it,” said Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “And we’re not going to kill landlords after we abolish private property, either. We need to focus on defeating the Russians and Donald Trump in November.”
The debacle in Iowa comes as Democrats prepare for Russian interference in 2020 after impeachment failed to oust President Trump from office.
“Russians allied with Trump threaten the very survival of our democracy, and the allegation that Communists are sabotaging America is ludicrous,” Sanders said. “As a former supporter of the Young People’s Socialist League, the Socialist Party USA, the Marxist-Leninist Sandinista government, and the heroic revolution of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, I assure you that the modern ‘Red Scare’ is nothing but a Republican conspiracy theory.”
