“Donald Trump’s impeachment acquittal will be meaningless because we never accepted the results of the 2016 election in the first place,” Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., declared Friday. “Anyone who accepts an acquittal is a danger to our democracy.”
“The House proved Trump’s guilt before this sham trial in the Senate started,” Schumer added. “But Republicans still didn’t allow Senators to present witnesses or documents to convict him, which is just more evidence that our Constitution is under attack.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also said she won’t accept a not guilty verdict in the Senate as vindication.
“He will not be acquitted,” Pelosi said. “You cannot be acquitted if you’re already guilty before the trial starts, and you don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation.”
Kamala Harris, a former California Attorney General and White House hopeful, said the illegal president’s lawyers “disgraced themselves terribly in terms of their violation of what our Constitution is about.”
“There will be no true acquittal if there is no fair trial,” Harris added. “Republicans are trying to dismantle the Constitution to keep an illegitimate president on the ballot in 2020, and we won’t accept the results of that election unless a Democrat wins.”
Hillary Clinton said the Founding Fathers never imagined Congress would have to impeach an illegal president.
“This is exactly what our Founders feared,” Clinton said. “A fake president who thinks any action is justified if he says it’s good for the country — including paying a foreign government for dirt on his political opponent and using our domestic intelligence agencies to impact an American election.”
