MusiCares cancels Aerosmith as 2020 Person of the Year because corporations aren’t people

Four-time GRAMMYwinning band Aerosmith was supposed to be honored as the 2020 MusiCares “Person of the Year,” but lawyers for the Recording Academy cancelled the tribute after discovering that the band is actually a corporation.

The corporation known as Aerosmith will still be recognized for their philanthropic efforts and undeniable impact on American music history.

The 30th Anniversary of the MusiCares benefit gala is being held tonight, two nights prior to the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast.
