Hunter Biden, son of presidential candidate Joe Biden, has reportedly joined the Bernie Sanders campaign and the board of Venezuela’s state-owned oil and natural gas company, Petróleos de Venezuela.
“My dad may be leading in the polls, but Bernie is the only candidate who can make Venezuela great again,” Mr. Biden said at a Sanders rally in Venezuela’s capital city, Caracas.
Mr. Biden’s move comes as Democrats are trying to choose a candidate who can beat Trump while the Trump administration is trying to remove Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from power.
“There’s only one path to rebuilding Venezuela, and that’s oil,” said the younger Biden. “But Trump’s sanctions prohibit American companies from buying Venezuelan crude oil. A Sanders presidency would stop America from hurting the Venezuelan people.”
