House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has accused Twitter of plotting a coup against pro-impeachment Democrats by publishing “tons of fake tweets” in which they allegedly support the now-deflowered Steele Dossier.
“Twitter is risking harsh sanctions from the Democratic majority for publishing fake, false, and defamatory tweets alleging that many of our members believed the Steele Dossier was real,” Schiff said on Fox News Sunday.
“GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted an especially illegal thread that puts Republican abuse of power on full display,” said Schiff. “And the Intelligence Committee has also gathered evidence that Twitter is targeting journalists with the same disinformation campaign.”
The chairman also called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to accept new legislation putting restrictions on hate speech.
