Los Angeles unveiled the new Barack Obama Boulevard yesterday, replacing the 3½-mile Rodeo Road that runs across the city’s historic black neighborhood.
L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti noted at Saturday’s ceremony that the intersection of Obama and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will remind everyone that “Barack Hussein Obama was a president for everybody.”
The former President of the United States, who was present during the ceremony, quipped, “Republicans can get on the bus at the corner of Obama and MLK, but they’ll have to ride in the back.”
City Council President Herb Wesson replied, “That would truly be the greatest way to pay tribute to you, Mr. President.”
