New Zealand demands arrest of Turkish president for hate speech

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has called for the arrest of Turkish President Recep Erdogan for flashing white supremacist hand signals and sharing video of the Christchurch terror attack at recent campaign events.

While New Zealand is arresting people for “possessing” or “distributing” the first-person video of the shooting, President Erdogan has shown footage of the murders to thousands of Turkish citizens to whip up his pious Islamic supporters ahead of local elections scheduled for March 31.

In prepared remarks, Ardern said the video “misrepresents this country and imperils the future and safety of the New Zealand people and our people abroad.” She also characterized it as “like, totally unfair.”

Waleed Shahid, spokesman for America’s Justice Democrats — who elected Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Congress — strongly criticized Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party.

“We have pretty much the same goals as President Erdogan, but he made a mistake by showing the video,” Shahid said. “He needs to keep that authoritarian fascist stuff behind closed doors.”

An analysis of America’s Justice Democrats and Turkey’s Justice and Development Party shows that the names of their political parties are similar, they run the same kinds of Islamist candidates, and their policies are analogous.

Experts say Turkey looks like your average one-man autocracy found everywhere in the Middle East, American Democrats feel increasingly comfortable with anti-Semitic rhetoric, and white supremacists are shooting up mosques just like Islamist terrorists.

“It wasn’t supposed to be like this in New Zealand, Turkey, or America,” said Prime Minister Ardern. “We all supported candidates with a self-described Muslim Democrat worldview. What we got instead were eco-fascist Muslim-haters and Democratic Socialist Jew-haters. We’re not sure how it happened.”

As for Erdogan, no one — not journalists, government officials, or analysts — can figure out how he became a modern case study for authoritarianism, but everyone agrees he should be arrested for hate speech.
