Decades after other French-speaking countries adopted feminine names for professions, France has decided to replace their mother tongue entirely with a more female-friendly language.
The Académie Française announced the switch to Arabic when it became clear that the “natural evolution” of French wasn’t happening fast enough and millions of Muslim immigrants demanded a more feminist language.
Citizens of the modern French state also dislike the male-dominated language because of its militaristic origins. French is descended from the Vulgar Latin, passed down by Roman conquerors in the first century A.D.
The new language takes effect immediately.
