Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather has reportedly discovered a long-lost guide to global air travel by Amelia Earhart, in which she admits that her copilot told her “never plot a course through a land war in Asia.”
The legendary newsman says he found the typewritten manuscript during a recent trip to the Purdue University library.
“I’ve been fascinated by historical documentation of air travel since before 2004,” said Rather, “so this is very exciting. I can’t vouch for the authenticity of the guide, but my team is working tirelessly to substantiate it.”
One of the most poignant moments typed by Earhart comes on the first page, where she writes, “Never go in against an Earhart when death is on the line.”
