Iranian legislators raised a rainbow flag in Tehran’s parliament yesterday to protest America’s pullout from the nuclear deal negotiated by former President Barack Obama.
“Donald Trump cannot do a damn thing about Tehran’s solidarity with the LGBT community and your Democratic Party,” said Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Khamenei’s comments came Wednesday as he met with a group of school teachers in Tehran. He said Trump’s speech Tuesday night “had over 10 lies” and that Trump’s remarks threatened the worldwide gay community with nuclear destruction.
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said in a televised speech in Tehran on Tuesday that he’d send a gay foreign minister to negotiate with countries remaining in the nuclear deal. He also warned that he would restart enriching uranium “in the next weeks” to “provide cheap nuclear power to the incredibly diverse people of Iran.”
