Only hours after President Trump announced his intent to erase $15 billion from dormant government programs, Governor Jerry Brown demanded that California be allowed to spend it instead.
“We have the fifth largest economy in the world, the most homeless people, the most undocumented immigrants, deteriorating roads, a public pension crisis, and an underfunded bullet train,” Brown said at a press conference outside the Capitol.
Pointing at the side of his head in mock suicide, he then said, “Give us that money or the Golden State gets it.”
On hearing of Brown’s threat, Trump tweeted, “Go ahead. Make my day.”
