Who drove this damn car into the ditch? Oh, shit. We did.

Editor’s Note: Every now and then, I remember it’s impossible to satirize Progressives so I write something that isn’t satire. The Brie will return to deluding itself tomorrow.

Democrats have started “tackling” the “huge affordable housing shortage” with a package of new laws.

Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) said, “When you spend 50 years driving your car into a ditch that means it’s a really deep ditch.”

Who drove into the ditch? At the signing ceremony in San Francisco, Gov. Brown blamed fellow politicians. “All these rules were passed by people like you! City and state people did all this good stuff … too many goods create a bad.”

By their own admission, Progressives created so many rules that one “affordable unit” costs $300,000, and those rules have driven “working families” out of the housing market.

How big is the crisis? The Legislative Analyst says we need 100,000 “affordable” units yearly to keep up with demand – which pencils out to $30 billion annually.

How are Progressives who created the crisis “tackling” the crisis? With rules that fund 9,000 new units per year for the next 10 years.

This is how big-government Progressives “protect” working families. We need fewer Progressives.

Huey P. "Navin" Newsom was born a poor black child who reported illegal immigrants to ICE before he wised up and invented the Sanctuary City. Today, Navin is the governor-in-waiting of California. As the leader of the Democratic Socialists for Self Defense, he plans to wall off the city of Oakland to protect undocumented immigrants from Darrell Steinberg's secret Nazi police force.
